JACKSON, Tenn.—One organization brings its state conference to Jackson.

The Tennessee State Conference of the NAACP is hosting its 21st Annual Race Relations and Advocacy Summit in the Hub City.

The two-day event kicked off Friday with a townhall meeting for local youth and college students at the Lane College Cyber Café.

Saturday’s event takes place at the DoubleTree Hotel. It includes various workshops tackling topics like education, financial health, and criminal justice.

The summit features a luncheon with special guest, Ms. Deidre Malone, President and CEO of Carter Malone Group, LLC. in Memphis.

The event also invites youth to participate in activities like its unique Economic Idea Lab where participants work together to come up with a solution to a specified problem.

The event closes out with an award reception.

“We’ll have the impact awards and we’ll actually be giving awards to businesses and individuals throughout the state that have made an impact,” said Gloria Sweet-Love, President of TN NAACP.

The TN State Conference will recognize eight worthy Tennesseans for their contributions, hard work, and various achievements.
