Homeless service project collects over 200 items for students in need
JACKSON, Tenn. — A homeless service project was held Tuesday for local students and families experiencing homelessness.
There are currently upward of 200 identified homeless students in the Jackson-Madison County School System. This project gathered items such as pillows, bed sheets, shoes, food, socks and various clothing, and cleaning supplies. Backpacks are being packed to be given to homeless children ahead for spring break.
Members of the Semper Fidelis Council were present with donations and shared their gratitude for the ability to serve.
“All of our club members were so gracious and generous to help collect all of the items and we’re just really happy to be here this morning to make the donation,” said Evelyn Harris, member of Semper Fidelis Council.
As a group, these members have gathered well over 200 items for students in need from cleaning supplies to gift cards.
