Local prayer breakfast, resource fair celebrates TN ‘Day of Hope’

JACKSON, Tenn. — Yesterday was Tennessee’s annual “Day of Hope.” One event Tuesday morning continued the celebration.

A prayer breakfast and community resource fair was held Tuesday at the Jackson Fairgrounds. It celebrated the hope available to Tennesseans seeking recovery from adverse mental health and substance abuse issues. The gathering recognized individuals and service organizations within our region that serve as Hope providers.

Participants prayed over the community and visited resource tables to learn about available resources.

“We just have to be here for each other. We’ve got to show each other compassion, empathy, grace and mercy along their chosen paths to recovery and help point them in the right direction,” said Shelby Fisher, faith-based community coordinator for Southwest TN.

Officials say education is key to providing a link to other forms of guidance.
