Monnie Ann Vinson, age 73, passed away on March 9, 2025, in Jackson, TN. Monnie was born on November 24, 1951, in Jackson, TN, to the late Hollen and Louise Sisco Waller. Monnie, a kind-hearted and compassionate mother and grandmother, is leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Monnie was known for her endless warmth and the incredible joy she brought to everyone she met. Her smile was contagious, and her laughter was truly one of a kind. A woman who had a way of brightening any room, she made friends effortlessly and was beloved by all who knew her. To know Monnie was to love her — her kindness and spirit touched countless lives.
For many years, Monnie dedicated her career to helping others, working for the state to support disabled individuals in finding housing, employment, and resources they needed. Her commitment and care made a lasting impact on the lives of many.
Monnie loved to travel, and nothing brought her peace quite like the ocean. The beach was her home away from home–a place where she could relax and soak in the waves.
Monnie’s greatest joy was her family. She was an incredible mother, always putting others before herself, and a devoted grandmother who showered her grandchildren with love and care. Her love for her fur babies was equally fierce, and they were often at the heart of her daily life, giving her comfort and companionship.
Monnie had a wonderful sense of humor, and her ability to make others laugh will be remembered by all who knew her. Her generous heart and infectious spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to experience her love and friendship.
She is survived by her children, Michael Vinson (Christina) and Marissa McKewen (Mike); grandchildren, Olivia Vinson and Emma Vinson; and her sister, Sondra West (Robert).
A service to celebrate the life of Monnie Vinson will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with burial following in Ridgecrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends and loved ones beginning at 9:00 a.m. Thursday before the service.
