THP trooper ‘seriously injured’ on patrol in Benton County
PRESS RELEASE FROM THE TENNESSEE HIGHWAY PATROL:
Benton County, Tenn. – A Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) trooper was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle while on patrol in Benton County.
Trooper Douglas Williams, an 11-year veteran of the force, was patrolling on his 2024 Harley-Davidson police motorcycle on U.S. Highway 641 when he was rear-ended. Paramedics from the Benton County EMS quickly arrived on the scene to begin treatment.
Trooper Williams suffered serious injuries, but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. He was flown to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville for treatment.
The crash is being investigated by THP’s Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT). The driver of the other vehicle was not injured, and the investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
