Clearing Skies, Rapid Falling Temps Overnight
Weather update: Thursday, March 20 —
Good Evening ad welcome to Spring! The vernal equinox occurred this morning at 4:02 AM CDT. That is the sun’s most direct rays passed the equator and are now located in the Northern Hemisphere. That’s all great, but we locally are under the influence of a maritime-pacific air mass with high pressure trailing the cold front. Skies have finally cleared allowing for some sun here ear sunset, but the skies will remain mostly clear as surface high pressure builds east from NW Missouri into the Ohio and Tennessee Valley. That is to say that the radiational cooling engine will be in full operation overnight, particularly where winds go completely calm. Low temps tonight will fall to around 29-31°F. Friday itself looks fairly nice with temps quickly climbing through the 40s and 50s into the low 60s at the warmest point of the day.
