Hardin County mayor discusses new growth in the community
SAVANNAH, Tenn. — As we move towards the back half of Fiscal Year 25, many municipalities are getting the budget process started for next year.
However, there is still plenty of time left in this fiscal year. Mayor Kevin Davis of Hardin County says they are fiscally conservative and are seeing growth happen.
“The city and the county, we all work together to promote growth and quality of life,” Mayor Davis said. “As you drive through Savannah, you’ll see a lot of building going on in our county. If you come across the bridge the new hotel is going up. I think in the city’s near future, they’re looking at building a new marina.”
A new senior center, rehabilitation and expansion for the library, money for health, and inmate training are all being funded in part with grants. Mayor Davis says these grants are very important.
“It takes a lot of burden off of the financial side of the local tax structure. But we do have buy-in as far as there is some match to that,” said Mayor Davis. “You know you’ve got to sift through what are advantageous grants. These that I’ve mentioned will definitely make life better for our citizens.”
Tourism tax dollars are always a huge help for any community. Hardin County does a great job with this.
“Tourism is one of the cogs in the wheels that makes Hardin County a successful county,” Davis said.
Mayor Davis says he is optimistic that he will continue to see good times in Tennessee and his county.
Currently, the various departments that make up Hardin County are working on turning in their budget for Fiscal Year 26.
