Dogs compete at Blue Suede Cluster Show

JACKSON, Tenn.—Pups compete for top awards at a dog show held right here in Jackson.

The Blue Suede Cluster Dog Show began this week in the Hub City.

The show presented by the Tupelo Kennel Club, Inc. and the Jackson Tennessee Dog Fanciers Association, Inc. is taking place at Jackson Fairgrounds.

The competition began on Thursday, March 20 and continues through Sunday.

Saturday’s event includes competition in conformation, obedience, and rally skills to see which dogs ranked best. Puppy owners could even bring their 4-6-month-old pups for the AKC Sanctioned beginner’s competition.

A specialty breed competition was also held which included members of the Mid-South Bassett Hound Club and the German Shepherd Dog Club of Memphis.

“What you’re seeing here today is dogs that are being compared to the standard that the American Kennel Club has established is the perfect breed. Or the perfect dog! So each dog will go in and be looked at by a judge, we have about fifteen judges here, two of which are even from Australia, so it’s a global event this time,” said Cathi Roberts, Assistant Show Chair of Dog Show.

If you missed today’s show, you can still check out Sunday’s competitions. That event will begin at 6 in the morning.

Parking is free for the event.
