Area Relief Ministries celebrates 50 years

JACKSON, Tenn.—Area Relief Ministries celebrates 50 years of service here in Jackson.

The organization joined together Saturday evening at West Jackson Baptist Church in honor of its Legacy Celebration.

Members, and friends joined the special event, which featured food, fun and live entertainment from Tosh Newman. Attendants had the opportunity to pay respect to founder, Mary Tyler, and hear more about her legacy and what ARMs does for the community.

Area Relief Ministries is a non-profit organization working to serve the people of Jackson. They work tirelessly to help the homeless population with housing needs while also helping to coordinate and provide emergency, medical and dental care to those in need.

“ARM has always been pretty active in the community. Since COVID the number for homelessness has increased. We’re always recruiting churches and volunteers to continue to serve,” said Fred McKinnie, Executive Director of Area Relief Ministries.

The legacy event honors the hard work its members put forth and celebrates the future efforts the organization has planned for the Jackson community.
