Crews fight evening house fire in Jackson
JACKSON, Tenn. — First responders tended to a house fire Sunday evening.
WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News Tipsters informed us heavy smoke on Maryland Drive in Jackson.
According to Battalion Chief Hayes, JPD and Jackson Fire and Rescue received the call around 6:15 p.m.
When our crews arrived on scene, neighbors could be seen standing outside their homes.
It appears the fire started around the back the home.
Battalion Chief Hayes tells us no one was in the home at the time of the fire.
“It appears that is began in the kitchen area, but currently we are going through an overhaul making sure all of our hotspots are out, and once we are satisfied, that’s the case, then we will begin our secondary investigation,” said Hayes.
Crews were able effectively put the fire out and officials are now working to determine the cause of the fire.
