JACKSON, Tenn. — Madison Area Democratic Women (MADW) announce the winner of $2,500 Sue Shelton White Scholarship.

They are awarding the 5th Annual Sue Shelton White Scholarship to Tiffany Boyd of Covington, Tennessee.

MADW presented the $2,500 scholarship to Boyd in a ceremony celebrating Women’s History Month Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at Jackson City Hall.

Juanita Jones, Madison County Commissioner and Executive Director of the Keep My Hood Good community campaign, spoke at the event.

“I knew that I wanted to be an attorney,” Boyd said. “Also knew that I wanted to do something, and watching her life [Michelle Obama], I knew that I could do whatever it is that I wanted to do.”

Boyd recently graduated from Jackson State Community College with a degree in Criminal Justice, and is beginning her online courses at Austin Peay State University, majoring in Political Science.

In addition to her studies, she works full-time as owner of the Reeaal Clean Janitorial Services Company, serves as President of the Dyersburg/Dyer County NAACP, and is the mother of two sons.
