Local church offering free meal, car wash for its ‘Car Care Day’

HENDERSON, Tenn. — A wonderful opportunity for one town’s community members is on the way.

For the second year in a row, the Henderson Church of Christ will be holding their Car Care Day.

This is a time where anyone in the community can come to the church and receive multiple different services including a free car wash and free meal.

There is also some more detailed assistance that will be available.

“We are hosting a car check. So it’s kind of like a little pit crew there. They will check tire pressure, oil levels, windshield wiper fluids, and all of those good things. They will leave a checklist on the passenger seat with things that they might recommend,” said Robert Hatfield, minister for the Henderson Church of Christ.

Like many West Tennessee towns, Henderson is a small community and Hatfield says this is a chance for people in the area to come together.

“The is just an opportunity for us to show some love to our community. We’ve got a great community here in Henderson and Chester county. We have a really great blessing of being right here on Main Street. Just in the heart of it all. We’re just trying to be good neighbors and serve other people,” said Hatfield.

Last year was the first time the church had hosted this event and Hatfield says it was a great success.

“For the first time to do something like this we were really, really pleased with the response. We’re hoping to make it bigger this year and just sort of broaden the love a little bit for our community. We served burgers last year and we moved a lot of burgers,” said Hatfield.

The event is Saturday, April 5 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. This year they will be serving barbeque chicken, coleslaw, mac n’ cheese, and much more. It is all completely free.
