Teens learn important skills at Ford Driving program
JACKSON, Tenn.—One local event aims to help young drivers gain experience behind the wheel.
The Ford Driving Skills program was in full swing this weekend at Rockabilly Stadium.
The event hosted by Ford Philanthropy and the Governor’s Highway Safety Association is presented to help teen drivers be better prepared for handling a vehicle in dangerous situations.
Studies show that teen drivers are often associated with a large amount of traffic fatalities.
Equipping young drivers with the knowledge to handle unexpected events behind the wheel can help to lower that number.
The two-day event happens rain or shine and is open to teen drivers with a valid permit or license.
Participants have the opportunity to drive a Ford Mustang and practice different handling techniques.
“We focus on essential services, education for the future of work, and mobility solutions. So, this is like 1/3 of our 3 legged stool of how we engage with and lift up the community and work with the community,” said Hassan Hammoud, Sr. Manager of Essential Services, Ford Philantrophy.
Each day has three separate sessions available to participate beginning at 8 each morning.
