Community members take a Walk against colon cancer
JACKSON, Tenn.—Community members gathered together Sunday for a Colon Cancer Awareness Walk in Jackson.
The walk took place from 2 in the afternoon until 5 in the evening at North Park located at 210 Demonbreun Drive.
Participants walked the trail to raise awareness for colon cancer and the importance of regular screenings.
There was a time of prayer, and a balloon release held in remembrance of those lost to cancer.
“I’m an eight year colon cancer survivor and for the last five years, I’ve been doing my walk on my own. I like to get out the information to people to let them be aware to get their wellness checks,” said Deneene Barbour, colon cancer survivor.
Organizers are hoping to make this an annual event in Jackson.
