Gospel Light Baptist Church presents its Hometown Hero service

JACKSON, Tenn.—One local church is honoring first responders with a special service.

Gospel Light Baptist Church of Jackson presents its Hometown Hero Service Sunday.

The service is a day dedicated to honoring first responders throughout the Jackson and Madison County areas.

Local firemen, police officers, military servicemen, and other emergency service workers were welcomed by the church for a special service and luncheon.

Following the luncheon, members of the congregation were invited to visit with the heroes offering everyone an opportunity to learn more about their different skillsets.

There was even a “Touch a Truck” event where congregation members could view fire trucks, police vehicles and even a helicopter.

“I want our kids to see that these are basically our hometown heroes. They give instead of take. They are protectors, providers, and here to help us tend to whatever our needs are. They’re the kind of people that we can look up to in our community,” said Wade Cash, Pastor, Gospel Light Baptist Church.

Gospel Light Baptist Church presents this special service every year to honor and shed light on the hard work of local first responders.
