JSCC offers assistance to students affected by severe weather

JACKSON, Tenn. — Jackson State Community College is offering assistance to students who have been displaced or are in need of assistance following the recent severe weather. Earlier Thursday, JSCC President Dr. Carol Rothstein issued this press release:

Our deepest sympathies go out to those affected by the storms across West Tennessee, especially our neighbors in McNairy and Hardeman counties where families have been displaced due to the tornados Wednesday night.

At this time, we have identified a pool of student assistance funding through our Foundation to assist those that have been displaced or in need of assistance due to the storms. If you are a Jackson State student who has been displaced, please reach out to foundation@jscc.edu and detail any needs you may have.

Our students are at the center of everything we do here at Jackson State, and while I can only imagine the heartbreak our students and their families are experiencing in the wake of such a tragedy, I want to offer any help we can to those affected.

We are also partnering with our UT Martin – Jackson campus to provide food and emergency supplies at their Selmer Campus that was not impacted by the storm. I encourage anyone that would like to help our neighbors to drop off donations at 37 Alumni Drive, Jackson, TN 38301.
