Latham Dukedom Fire Department responds to tornado touchdown

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE LATHAM DUKEDOM FIRE DEPARTMENT:

WEAKLEY COUNTY, Tenn. — At approximately 9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 a confirmed tornado touched down in the Chestnut Glade Rd area. Latham/Dukedom Fire Department (LDFD) responded promptly to assess the damage and provide assistance.

According to Chief Sean Fulcher, “Unfortunately, one home was completely destroyed, another sustained major damage, and several others incurred minimal to severe damage. Thankfully, the family residing in the destroyed home was not present at the time of the tornado.”

The LDFD is urging everyone to avoid the affected area until further notice, citing safety concerns.

“We ask the community to please keep the affected family in your thoughts and prayers, as they have lost their home,” said Chief Fulcher. “We are grateful that no injuries or fatalities were reported.”

The LDFD is working closely with local authorities and emergency management officials to provide support and resources to those affected.
