THIS WEEK:

After a stormy day on Sunday, things quieted down on our Monday and will remain quiet until Wednesday afternoon across West Tennessee. Starting Wednesday, the weather is going to take a turn for the worse and stay rough through the weekend. A flood watch is out and more severe weather concerns on Friday and Saturday as well. Please stay weather aware and monitor forecast information as it becomes available this week. On top of the severe storm threat, a major concern for flooding will last through the week into the weekend. Several rounds of storms and heavy rain is forecast from Wednesday evening through Saturday night and could last into Sunday morning. Some areas are expected to see over 10″ of rain during that time frame. Flash flooding as well as river flooding seems highly likely at this time around the region.

Friday was a very warm and humid day with highs making it into the mid 80s and a heat index of around 90° due to the fact the dew point was around 70°.  More clouds are expected to move into later tonight as the storms get closer. Storm will move in after sunset and move quickly to the east tonight. It will remain windy with the winds out of the south and overnight lows will fall down to the upper 60s or low 70s is all tonight.

THE WEEKEND:

Rain and storms are expected on Saturday and probably some severe weather in the afternoon and evening hours. By Saturday, ground in West Tennessee will be extremely saturated and many rivers, creeks and streams will be running high. Any additional rainfall over the weekend will increase the flood threat across West Tennessee. The rain is expected to finally move out early in the day on Sunday. Saturday highs will reach the mid to upper 70s before the front passing during the evening hours. As the front passes Saturday night, Sunday morning lows will fall into the upper 40s for most of us. Highs on Sunday will only reach the low 50s. Sunday night will be cool and we could see a frost Monday morning with morning lows expected to fall down to the upper 30s as of now to kick off next week. The sun may try to come out Sunday afternoon but we should see mostly sunny skies next Monday. The winds will change from the south on Saturday, to the west Saturday night and back to the northwest by Sunday afternoon.

NEXT WEEK:

We are looking at a dry and cool start to next week. The next chance for rain will show up on Thursday and chances are low as of now. Highs on Monday and Tuesday will make it up around 60°. Monday night we could see some frost as morning lows are forecast to be into the mid 30s. Mid to upper 30s are also expected Tuesday night before we start to warm back up on Wednesday. Wednesday highs will make it back up to around 70°. The winds will come out of the north on Monday and Tuesday keeping the temperatures down. The winds will shift back to the southeast on Wednesday starting a warming trend again. Expect water levels to continue to run high as we kick off next week as well.
