Officials provide update on flooding across Hardin County

HARDIN COUNTY, Tenn. — Hardin County experienced flash flooding as the second wave of severe weather hit last weekend.

The county sustained 4 to 6 inches of rain, flooding several areas.

Bucktown Loop Road and Micro Lane both washed out and were impassable. After the rainwater drained, crews were able to repair those roads and coverts.

“We didn’t have anybody here in the city, they had a couple people that they had to get out of the cars that drove through flood areas, so of course, always remember, if the road’s covered in water, just don’t drive through it. You know, just avoid the flooded areas. So, our water’s all gone down here now, so we’re good now,” said Chief Melvin Martin, Hardin County Fire and EMA director.

According to Chief Martin, the Tennessee River did rise 5 feet, but is staying just below flood stage.
