Five inductees go into the Jackson Madison County Sports Hall of Fame
Thursday April 10th was the annual Jackson Madison county sports hall of fame banquet. Five inductees
were honored for their contributions to Madison county sports and beyond. They were Bo Hardegree who is the Titans QB
coach, Jake Overbey who was a two time Mr Football winner, Tony Shutes who has
649 victories as a girls basketball coach ,Paula
Fuller who was all conference
at Jackson state and Josh Aldridge who was unable to attend
but is currently the defensive coordinator for East Carolina university.
Also several high school athletes received awards for winning female and
male athlete of the year. While our very own Tom Britt won the distinguished service
award and the guest speaker was mayor of Knox county Glenn Jacobs. I caught up with
Paula Fuller,Tony Shutes and Glenn Jacobs and they talked about when they first
found out they were getting inducted, what it means to them
and giving great advice take a listen.

Paula Fuller- “And so i ask Mr Hammond Greg i said what did you say and he told me again
and i said for real and you know you just dont think about it you did what you did when you did it
and years later here it is and i’m excited it was awesome.”

Tony Shutes- “To finally have people to recognized and acknowledged what you’ve done
it’s just a special feeling cause then you just feel like you know you worked hard and you kinda
get some flowers before that last breath.”
Glenn Jacobs- “In order to be successful in life you have to take those lessons. I think those same lessons apply to success in life teamwork leadership in all those things that makes you successful in sports but also makes you successful in life as well.”
