What’s New Wednesday: Paws and Whiskers Pet Pantry
JACKSON, Tenn. — What’s New Wednesday is back on WBBJ! The weekly segment spotlights some of the latest businesses and activities that West Tennessee has to offer.
This week, we take you to a new business in the Hub City that’s providing convenience and health benefits to our four-legged friends.
Paws and Whiskers Pet Pantry has been serving the Jackson community since July 2024.
The retailer specializes in a wide variety of pet food, including dry, wet, freeze dried and raw options.
“Things that you’re not going to be able to find at big box retail, specific brands, Open Farm, Fromm, Vital Essentials, phenomenal brands when it comes to both dog and cat food,” said owner Larissa Moyer.
Moyer tells us that after studying K9 nutrition, she developed a passion for raw feeding, and saw the health benefits with her own pets.
She hopes Paws and Whiskers can provide convenience to pet owners seeking more options.
“Especially when we deal with so many dogs in this area that have allergies or food sensitivities, it’s very important to know what we’re giving our pets,” Moyer said.
Pet parents can also shop a selection of fun toys, supplies, and single-ingredient treats that the store has to offer.
And if your furry friend would like to come along, even if they have trouble getting along with others, Moyer says she offers private shopping sessions.
“They can book the store for 30 minutes, and just have a heyday,” Moyer said. “Their dog is the only one here, mine isn’t even here, and they can shop and have a good time. We do a special pup cup for the private session.”
And with a certification in K9 massage therapy, Moyer also offers massage sessions, which are said to improve a dog’s overall physical and emotional well-being.
“It’s just great to be able to make that connection, and for me to be someone else’s pet’s best friend,” said Moyer.
Paws and Whiskers Pet Pantry is located at 180 West University Parkway, Suite A, in Jackson. Moyer says they are currently open Tuesday-Thursday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., and by appointment only on Sunday. They are closed on Mondays.
