Youth Violence Conflict Resolution Seminar takes place in Jackson
JACKSON, Tenn.—Community members gather for a seminar aimed to reduce violence in the Hub City.
The Youth Violence Conflict Resolution Seminar was held Saturday at the TR White Complex in Jackson. The seminar began at 11 in the morning and continued until 1 in the afternoon.
The event offers useful information from Jackson community members including local law enforcement, firefighters and even Lane College staff.
During the seminar, there were skits performed and even school supplies handed out to the young people in attendance.
The group aims to educate local youth and others of the importance in taking a stand against violence.
“If we can reach the parents and kind of get that notion to the parents, that way it will be able to trickle down. The messages will be able to trickle down and be able to be instilled into the minds of the kids so that, that change of mind can redirect their actions in the community to where it mitigates some of the crime that we see in Jackson, Tennessee,” said Daniel Israel, Officer of Youth Violence Memphis.
The group also hopes that educating youth in new methods of solutions against violence will prevent future unnecessary loss of life.
YVCRS has hosted events like these in multiple cities throughout the U.S.
