First Presbyterian Church in Jackson hosts Palm Sunday
JACKSON, Tenn.—Palm Sunday Service is held at one local church marking the beginning of Holy Week.
The First Presbyterian Church located at 1573 North Highland Avenue held its Palm Sunday service this morning.
The service included a traditional palm processional where congregation members walked outdoors with a blessed palm frond to hear a special message from Pastor John White.
The Palm Processional is a church tradition that marks Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem.
Following the processional members returned to the sanctuary for an inspirational sermon entitled “The Things That Make for Peace” and uplifting hymns.
“In worship service we bring palms and lay them on the isle like Jesus encountered when he entered Jerusalem. We just remember that day and give thanks for the courage and the love that he exhibited in entering Jerusalem in the midst of his enemies,” said John White, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church.
Palm Sunday marks the start of Holy Week which will conclude on Easter Sunday.
