JSCC hosts ‘Red Sand Project’ to help raise awareness about human trafficking
JACKSON, Tenn. — Jackson State Community College’s Gibson County center hosted a “Red Sand Project” Monday.
The public event included a short presentation about human trafficking.
Following the presentation, participants went outside to fill in the sidewalk cracks with red sand for human trafficking awareness.
According to the Red Sand Project, today, more than 50-million people worldwide are being trafficked or live in modern slavery.
“No matter how far down you are, and whatever you’re going through, there’s always a way out. There’s always a better way, you can always come up,” said .
The Red Sand Project is a participatory artwork to create opportunities for people to question, connect and take action against vulnerabilities that can lead to human trafficking, modern slavery, and exploitation.
