Grandparents Day brings special celebration for Jackson students
JACKSON, Tenn. — Proud grandparents filled the gymnasium at Jackson Christian School Thursday morning.
Elementary students hosted a special celebration in honor of Grandparents Day.
“We are celebrating all of our grandparents, our grand-friends, our grand aunts and uncles, and the special bond that they have with our children here,” said JCS Elementary Director Jeanna Rice.
More than 400 grandparents and friends attended the celebration.
Children led a musical performance while families we able to sit back and smile, taking in a moment they can cherish for years to come.
School leaders say celebrating grandparents is special because it honors the wisdom, love, and life experience they bring to families.
“We are honoring that special bond today. Because they’ve taught us how to love like Jesus. They’ve taught us to be leaders,” Rice said.
The students’ performance concluded with a popular uplifting song by Bill Withers, “Lean on Me,” — a tender way for students to say: “You’ve always been there for me—now I’m here for you,” returning the care and comfort grandparents have given them.
Following the celebration, school was dismissed to give students the day to spend time with grandparents.
