Milan High School hosts mock crash to highlight dangers of distracted, drunk driving
MILAN, Tenn. — A mock DUI crash was held Thursday at Milan High School. Coordinated School Health put on the crash to raise awareness of the dangers of drinking and driving.
There were multiple emergency vehicles involved on campus and participants included local law enforcement and responders, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and Vanderbilt Life Flight.
This year also focused on distracted driving because law enforcement are seeing an increase in crashes related to that issue.
“If we can help just one kid make the better decision, the right decision, or be that kid that stops somebody from making a poor decision, that’s what we’re here for, to advocate, and make people aware,” said Kate Smith, supervisor for the Milan Special School District.
Organizers clarify that it’s not just youth who are driving distracted, it’s a reflection of all of us — adults included.
