Artist shares progress on mural highlighting Jackson’s musical heritage
JACKSON, Tenn. — A new masterpiece in about to be unveiled in the Hub City that will complement the area’s rich musical heritage.
We had the honor of speaking with Trinity Rivard about the latest new mural that will soon be officially featured in downtown Jackson.
“Just very excited about seeing a finish product, I am enjoying the journey of creating it. But ultimately, I’m always ecstatic that sense of accomplishment when you complete it. I hope everyone feels that same way too,” said Rivard.
Rivard is from Tampa, Florida, however, when presented with the opportunity to paint a mural in downtown Jackson at the AMP he was excited for the honor.
“The mural is made custom to Jackson, and there will never be another like it. This is a one-time thing and it’s going to be something very special that can never be duplicated,” said Rivard.
Other artists and local city leaders were able to ask Rivard questions about the “Jackson Legends” mural that features musical artists that have impacted Jackson.
“Public art — you want to connect with the people, you want to inspire the people. You want them to feel uplifted and happy when they look at the art,” said Rivard.
Rivard begins his designs in black and white. For the colors, he researched Jackson and didn’t want anything to clash with the greenery at the AMP.
“I went to the Carnegie Museum website and I did a lot of looking around on there and kind of looking at Jackson in general. So much goes into like pulling colors from different resources I found online,” said Rivard.
While creating, Rivard listened to some of the music of the featured artists to be inspired. The final product will be seen sooner than you know it.
“I’m very grateful and very happy to be here and I am enjoying my time. I want to invite everybody to come out for the unveiling on the 26th,” said Rivard.
The final unveiling will be next Saturday, April 26 at the Vintage Makers Music and Arts Festival.
