Madison County Judge Hugh Harvey set to retire in May

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — The Madison County Board of Commissioners held their monthly meeting Monday morning.

Among the agenda items was the retirement of Judge Hugh Harvey.

“We’re appreciative of Judge Harvey and everything that he’s done to serve the county over the years,” said Chairman Mike Taylor. “And actually as a landlord, I’ve been in his court many times, and always, everyone has been treated fair and just, and everything is run expeditiously through that court.”

Judge Harvey’s dedication to the community throughout his tenure doesn’t go without recognition.

Other agenda items included standard transfers and amendments to recognize funds.

“Really what we did today was getting towards year-end cleanup, transferring between line items, and we’ve got grants and things coming in,” Taylor said.

Also, Dr. Marlon King, Superintendent of the Jackson-Madison County School System, highlighted several accomplishments of this previous year with the aid of the commission.

“We’re real excited at the focus he’s put into education, and the school board is doing a fantastic job of supporting him,” said Taylor. “I think you’re gonna see things continue to grow and get better throughout the years.”
