Discovery Park celebrates new designation with unveiling ceremony
UNION CITY, Tenn. — Discovery Park of America hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday to unveil new signage celebrating Discovery Park’s designation as an official Great River Road interpretive center.
A new sign has been installed at the museum’s entrance, commemorating this national recognition.
The Great River Road is a scenic byway that follows the course of the Mississippi River through 10 U.S. states, from northern Minnesota all the way down to the Gulf of Mexico and Louisiana.
It’s a collection of roads that hug the river’s edge, offering travelers a journey through history, culture, small towns, farmland, wetlands and riverfront cities.
“Today is Earth Day and so people all over the United States are celebrating different ways that we inform and educate and take care of our planet and so this is just one way that we can help contribute to that,” said Scott Williams, CEO of Discovery Park of America.
Tennessee’s portion of the Great River Road spans approximately 135 miles along the western edge of the state.
