NASA Hubble releases new images to celebrate 35th year of operations

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Hubble Space Telescope has now been in Earth’s orbit for 35 years.

The 24,000lb observatory went into low Earth orbit on April 24, 1990.

To celebrate the anniversary, NASA released a collection of fascinating images recently taken by Hubble. The images include Mars, star-forming regions and a neighboring galaxy.

The space telescope has made nearly 1.7 million observations, viewing tens of thousands of astronomical targets. To see some of the fascinating images produced by the Hubble Space Telescope, click here.
