City of Jackson hosts 3rd annual Children’s Day program

JACKSON, Tenn. — The City of Jackson celebrated students and teachers with a special program Friday.

The City of Jackson celebrated their 3rd annual Children’s Day Program at city hall in downtown Jackson. The North Side Choir and Thelma Barker Elementary School Choir performed for the ceremony.

The mayor’s youth council outstanding student award was presented to John Richard Nicholson who is a senior at USJ along with other presentations.

“It’s truly and honor and I’m really appreciative. I think I wouldn’t be able to do it without my pears and my teachers. I thank Miss Dolton that nominated me and my ability to make great friends who maybe be a light and made me to be a light,” said Nicholson.

A proclamation was also presented to Principal Karen Edwards of Thelma Barker Elementary School.
