More Pops Ups Friday Evening, Mostly Dry Weekend, Storms Back Next Week!
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
There are a few more weak storms and showers left to move through West Tennessee tonight before we endure a cooler but mostly dry weekend across the region. A few lightning strikes and brief heavy showers will be possible through midnight. There will be a slight chance for some storm and showers this weekend; with Sunday looking more likely that Saturday as of now to be impacted by them, but we are not expecting much. Next week is going to start out mostly sunny, warm and humid. High will reach the mid to upper 80s on Monday but we should fall short of 90°. Catch the full forecast here.

THIS WEEK:
Shower and pop up storms continued to wrap up the work week, but we again did not see any severe storms. That being said, any pop ups that go up this evening or tonight could produce some lightning and some brief heavy rain. The storms will be of the pop up variety so knowing exactly when and where they are going to pop up will be difficult to forecast. Chances for rain on Friday night sit at 40%, but the majority of the showers on Thursday were in the afternoon and evening hours and we are seeing the same on Friday. Thursday highs reached the low 80s and Thursday night lows were warm and dropped to the mid 60s. We will saw more clouds than sun on Thursday and the winds came out of the south most of the day and that same pattern continued on Friday.

The best chance for showers and storms this week was on Friday. Strong storm chances were slim but some small hail or isolated wind gusts cannot be ruled out, we are not expecting significant severe weather or tornadoes at this time. Highs on Friday reached the upper 70s and we saw partly to mostly cloudy skies. Friday was humid as well and overnight lows will fall down to the low to mid 60s to kick off our weekend. The winds on Friday came out of the southwest. Rain chances this weekend are low but are not zero. The cold front will pass overnight into Saturday morning cooling things down just a bit for the weekend.

THE WEEKEND:
There will be a slight chance for some storm and shower this weekend; with Sunday looking more likely that Saturday as of now to be impacted by them. Rain chances on Saturday sit at 10% and chances on Sunday are at 30% as of now. Like late in the week, they will appear to be more of the pop up variety than severe weather driven if we see anything at all. Some thunder and lightning and brief heavy rain would be the worst case scenario but it doesn’t look like that type of weather that would require you to cancel your outdoor weekend plans; but be sure to monitor the radar and forecast if you are going to be outside doing events this weekend.

Highs on Saturday will reach up to around 80° and Sunday highs could reach the mid 70s. Saturday night lows will fall down to around 60° and Sunday night lows will drop down to the mid to upper 50s. We have a chance for some low 90s next week by the way but will probably fall just short!

NEXT WEEK:
Next week is going to start out mostly sunny, warm and humid. High will reach the mid to upper 80s on Monday but we should fall short of 90°. The winds on Monday will return back to the south as a warm front is expected to lift through early in the day. Chances for rain on Monday are less than 10% but cannot 100° be ruled out. Tuesday is also going to warm and humid with highs again in the mid to upper 80s. The winds will be a bit breezy and come out of the southwest.

The next storm system will get closer Tuesday night and that could spark up a few late storms. Some could be strong of severe if they reach West Tennessee before midnight on Tuesday. As the next system moves through during the middle of the week, more showers and storms are expected on Wednesday and Thursday as well. Some severe weather looks possible but not likely at this time during the middle of the week. We will be keeping a close eye on the forecast early next week. Highs will slowly cool down during the week and the next front looks to pass by Thursday night or Friday morning next week.
