The streets in Paris were lined with excitement, music and the unmistakable smell of fried catfish. The grand parade brought together thousands of locals and visitors alike. All celebrating a beloved West Tennessee tradition that dates back to 1953.

We visited the World’s Biggest Fish Fry festival and met one young lady, Dixie Grimm, who says she feels proud to have the festival in Paris.

“It feels really good because this is a fairly small town, and the fact that we have this really big thing. It makes me proud for this town, and all of the people in it,” said Grimm, attendee.

This event isn’t just about great food, it’s also about community. And nowhere is that spirit more alive than is Paris on parade day.

“In Tennessee, we have so many wonderful communities in our 95 counties. Every one’s a little bit different, and how much fun that Paris, Tennessee is home to the World’s Biggest Fish Fry,” said U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn.

It is fun indeed and let’s not forget the stars of the show, the fish fry queen and her court. We spoke with Miss Teen Queen who shares her excitement for participating in the parade.

“It was exciting, we put a lot of work into our float, our theme is spread kindness like wildflowers at the world’s biggest fish fry,” said Millie Curd, Miss Teen Queen.

The grand parade had loads of entertainment, from elaborate floats to first responders and even marching bands.

“If you’re not in Paris, Tennessee today to experience all of the marching bands and all of the festivities with the fish fry parade, you’re not in the right place. We are so excited to be here,” said Grayson Martin, director of bands for Henry County High School.

If you missed the parade Friday, don’t worry, the festivities are far from over. The catfish races, carnival rides and fish plates are still happening through Saturday, April 26.
