New mural unveiled in downtown Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn.—A new art piece is unveiled in downtown Jackson.

The newest mural was presented Saturday at the Vintage Maker’s Music and Arts Festival. The presentation took place at 4 in the afternoon near the AMP.

The music themed mural was installed on the staircase walls next to the AMP stage.

The piece was completed by Trinity Rivard, who was selected out of 73 applicants nationwide.

Rivard was chosen through a selection committee made up of City of Jackson Public Art Commissioners and Amp stakeholders.

They are music legends and he took these very historical figures and the way that he painted them is very, very modern so kind of breathing some new life into our music history. It really just looks incredible. We’re so happy with it,” said Lizzie Emmons, Program Director for Our Jackson Home.

Along with Saturday’s unveiling, two new murals installations will also begin in one of the alleyways downtown.
