Tips to make seasonal road trips less stressful

JACKSON, Tenn. — Spring is here and the summer road trip season is soon to be in full swing.

The worst thing to happen on a road trip is to have issues with your vehicle, run out of gas, or be consumed with distractions. Here are a few tips to help the trip run smoothly.

Make sure you are prepared. Check the weather along the route you will be traveling so you know what to expect if you have to travel through severe weather.

Also be sure to have plenty of gas in case you get stuck in traffic.

You can also map out gas stations ahead of time to get the best prices at the pump and save on mileage.

Professional Carrera Cup drivers, Saber Cook and Madeline Stewart also have some recommendations.

“Everybody wants to get where they are going. It’s really important to stay focused, like we stay focused on the racetrack. It’s important to have that same sort of focus that we put into our driving into when you’re on the road, and to be able to get where you are going safely,” said Cook.

It’s also recommended to pick a playlist ahead of time and use hands free on your mobile device to avoid distractions.
