Residents meet in Jackson for National Day of Prayer
JACKSON, Tenn. — A local meeting celebrates Thursday’s nationwide emphasis on prayer.
In honor of National Day of Prayer, a group came together at Jackson’s courthouse lawn to worship and pray at 12 p.m. Thursday. The event has happened for many years.
The tradition continues because many people who are working are unable to attend the annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast. However, they can take part of their lunch break to gather.

“It’s a good time of coming together as a community of people of different churches, different denominations, but the same faith in Christ and trusting the Lord and knowing that we need to continue to call out to him for our families, for our community, for our leaders and trust in him,” said Henry Richerson, member of Jackson Area Ministerial Association.
This prayer event happens every year on the first Thursday in May and everyone is invited.
