Showers And Storms, Mainly Through The Morning

Saturday Morning Update

Happy Saturday Everyone,

A stalled out low pressure system and associated cold front will slowly move through the region over the Weekend keeping rain in the area for much of Saturday. Rain will be more concentrated in the area in the morning hours, but we’ll still have some scattered hit and miss showers and storms on into the afternoon. Cooler temperatures can be expected as well as we’ll only climb to around 70 Today and some areas north will only get up to the upper 60s.

An approaching cold front brought a couple rounds of thunderstorms to West Tennessee Friday morning/afternoon. Both rounds brought an impressive shelf cloud (gusty wind storm) and I am sharing some of my favorites photos I received today of it below.

THE WEEKEND:

There will be some lingering showers into Saturday morning and a few could linger into the afternoon near the Tennessee River. Temperatures are going to be a little cooler this weekend behind Friday night’s cold front. Highs on Saturday will be in the low 70s and Sunday highs will be in the upper 60’s. Saturday night lows will drop to the low 50s and Sunday night lows will settle in around 50° to start next week.

There will be clouds Saturday morning but overall we are expecting partly cloudy skies this weekend and we are not expecting any rain after the system clears out early Saturday. The system is going to stall out just to the northeast of us and will take it time moving out. This will keep temperatures below normal and keeping the clouds around longer, especially northeast of Madison county. The winds this weekend will come out of the north or northeast keeping both the temperature and humidity down all weekend long. Make some plans this weekend as it is not going to be wet, humid or too hot! Warmer weather will look to return as we head into next week.

NEXT WEEK:

We are expecting a dry start to next week but it will be a little cool as well with the winds forecast to come out of the north and east for the start of the week. Highs on Monday and Tuesday with reach the mid to upper 70s near normal. Rain showers and storm chances will return during the middle of the week but it does not appear to be a big severe weather concern as of now. Morning lows will hang around 50° for Monday and Tuesday before warming back up to around 60° for Wednesday and Thursday morning. This will be from the winds finally returning back to the south and the increase in the humidity during the middle of the week.
