Cat health: Vet shares tips, treatment for parasites

JACKSON, Tenn. — Studies show owning a pet, such as a cat, can reduce stress, anxiety, and help improve mental health.

No matter if your cat lives indoors or outdoors, it’s important to think about their health as well.

Parasitic pests can be a problem year-round, but some are especially active this time of year.

Dr. Amber Whittle, a veterinarian, says your cat is vulnerable to harmful parasites – even if they live exclusively indoors.

She says year-round protection is recommended for both indoor and outdoor pets. And one product can protect your cat from fleas, ticks, heartworm disease and other unwelcome parasites.

“It can be really challenging to get rid of those infestations,” Dr. Whittle said. “So, we always want to talk to our veterinarian about what they recommend for parasite protection, which is why I recommend medication–like Revolution Plus. It’s a prescription product we offer at Zoetis. It’s actually what I use on my own cat. It provides really broad spectrum protection against a lot of the common parasites that your cat is going to be faced with.”

Revolution Plus is a topical medication, meaning it goes directly on the skin. To learn more, visit revolutionplus.com.
