Showers & Storm Chances Back Thursday, Friday Looking Better!

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:

After some morning rain showers, we have been dry this afternoon and evening and most of us will stay that way tonight. A few light showers or sprinkles will be possible tonight if we see anything at all. Thursday morning looks mostly dry but into the afternoon and evening hours there will be some storms and rain showers popping up. We are under a marginal (level 1/5) for severe storms, so a gusty wind storm or a brief hail maker cannot be ruled out. Do not cancel your plans Thursday as any storms that pop will be short lived and many of us will not see them on Thursday. Catch the latest on Friday’s rain and storm chances as well as the latest on that stalled out low that might impact your weekend plans right here.

THIS WEEK:

Rain chances returned late Tuesday night and stuck around at times during the morning on Wednesday. Not everyone saw rain on Wednesday as the showers were scattered but most of us saw a little bit of something. Storm chances were low and we are not expecting any storms tonight in West Tennessee. Chances for rain and storms will increase on Thursday to 60% across the region. Highs on Wednesday only reached the low 70s under the mostly cloudy skies and the light breeze out of the east. Wednesday night lows will fall down again to the upper 50s.

We are expecting some showers and storms on Thursday with chances being the greatest in the afternoon and evening hours. Although a few showers could impact the Junior Parade in the morning (10AM start time) in Humboldt for the strawberry festival, do not be concerned enough to not go as most of the rain is coming later in the day. Just grab an umbrella just in case and monitor the radar in the morning but you should probably be ok. Highs on Thursday will reach the mid to upper 70s with mostly cloudy skies as it will be a bit humid during the day. The winds will come out of the west and be light for most of the day. Thursday night lows will again fall down to the mid to upper 50s.

A weak front will pass by Thursday night into Friday morning but that may help keep the majority of us dry on Friday. There could be a few showers early Friday, but overall we are expecting a dry day and dry weather for the main parade on Friday morning in Humboldt. Chances for rain on Friday are 20% so they cannot be ruled out. We will see partly cloudy skies on Friday with a light breeze coming out of the northeast behind the front. Highs on Friday will reach the mid 70s again and Friday night lows will be a bit cooler with less clouds as we head into the weekend. We will kick off our Saturday in the mid 50s.

THE WEEKEND:

There is going to be another stalled out low pressure system this weekend, but unlike last weekend, this one is likely going to set up to the south of us. This will keep a few showers chances around with most of them being in our southern counties next to the Mississippi border. If the system drifts a bit further north than we are currently thinking we could see a few weekend showers as well. But as of now, chances for rain for each weekend day are at 20%. We should see partly cloudy skies this weekend too with more clouds being down south than up north. The winds this weekend will vary in direction around the low but will most likely come out of the northeast. The northeast will keep temperatures below 80° for most of us. Highs on Saturday are forecast in the mid 70s and Sunday in the upper 70s. Morning lows this weekend will stick around in the low to mid 50s. We should warm up a bit as we kick off next week as well.
