CASA of Henderson Co. talks mission to help children during lunch and learn

LEXINGTON, Tenn. — The Henderson County Chamber of Commerce held an important lunch and learn Thursday.

Held at First Baptist Church’s fellowship hall in Lexington, the event welcomed Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Henderson County.

Attendees heard the nonprofit’s mission, as well as an impacted family’s personal experience.

The organization advocates for children who are involved in the court system due to abuse and neglect. All advocates are volunteers who go through training and background checks.

“Our advocates build a relationship with the child, they attend all kinds of child and family team meetings and court, and then they make recommendations to the court on the best interest of the child,” said Annie Searock, executive director for CASA of Henderson County.

Searock explains that the hope of CASA is to see families brought back together and experience healing.
