Exciting events happening across West Tennessee this weekend
JACKSON, Tenn. — From festival fun and action-packed wrestling, to chilling cocktail experiences and events for mom, the list goes on for this weekend! Don’t miss out on what’s happening in West Tennessee.
Whether you are craving brunch with mom, a car show or a little bit of hometown festival fun, this weekend’s line-up has something to keep everyone entertained.
Cardboard Boat Regatta
Get ready to set sail across the South Lake. The annual Cardboard Boat Regatta will take place this Saturday May 10 at Discovery Park of America. You can still pre-register online or sign up at the gate the day of.
Check in is at 8:30 a.m. and races begin at 11 a.m.
This event is free for all spectators.
Tyler Spann Water Safety Project 5K
And how about a fun family day that’s for a good cause? The annual Tyler Spann Water Safety Project 5K will be Saturday evening at Beech Lake in Lexington.
The race starts at 5 p.m., but don’t let that stop you from heading out early for all of the fun and activities included in the day.
“You know we are just going to try to make it a lot of fun for families to come out. We will have words about water safety, the West Tennessee Rescue and Dive Team will be there — the fire department,” said Angela Spann, mother of Tyler Spann.
Spann says the hope is to spread awareness for water safety — especially on beaches with the goal to have water safety education as part of Tennessee curriculum.
Strawberry Festival Festivities
Of course, the West Tennessee Strawberry Festival continues this weekend. Saturday, a 5k and 10k run starts at 8 a.m.
The car show kicks off at 8 a.m. in Viking Park with the tractor show following at 9 a.m.
As you are taking in all things strawberry, stop by the Little Miss Territorial Revue at 11 a.m. and the Territorial Queens Revue will finish up the day at 6 p.m. Both competitions take place at the high school gym.
Car and Truck Show
Also Saturday is a car and truck show in Huntingdon at the Clarksburg High School. All vehicles are welcome. Registration fee is $20. Chicken plates are $10. There will be a 50/50 drawing and prizes.
All proceeds go to the senior class of 2025 project graduation.
Selmer Wrestling Benefit
And Hub city wrestling is hosting “Rocking the Rebuild.” It’s a benefit event this Saturday at the Selmer Community Center.
All proceeds are going directly to support families and individuals affected by the recent tornado.
“It’s a donation-based event. So, just donate what you can to come into the door. You’ll see myself. You’ll see Danny Dollar. You’ll see Jack Passion you’ll see Logan Blake. We have got a plethora of wrestlers that are going to be there; the one man band heath slater,” said William Hatton, owner of Hub City Wrestling.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and bell time begins at 7:30 p.m.
Mother’s Day Brunch
Sunday is Mother’s Day so why not plan something for mom? Magnolia Manor and Chapel is having a Mother’s Day brunch from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. in Humboldt — this is located at 1424 East Main Street.
And there will be live music and brunch for Mother’s Day at Crown Winery in Humboldt. This begins at 1 p.m.

Edgar Allen Poe Speakeasy
Finally, step back in time to the dark and mysterious world of Poe.
The Edgar Allen Poe speakeasy will take place at premier place event venue in Jackson. Showtimes are available both Saturday and Sunday.
