International Festival celebrates various food, cultures from all over
JACKSON, Tenn. — It was a night to celebrate cultures from all over the world.
The 7th Annual International Festival brought out hundreds Friday night to North Parkway Middle School.
There was free food, cultural traditions, arts and crafts and games from around the world.
Organizers say it was a great event to celebrate rich cultures from around the world.
The ESL director also told us about the diversity of students and languages in the Jackson-Madison County School System.
“[The] ESL program — we have close to 1,700 students from 45 different languages and sometimes people don’t realize how diverse Jackson is, and the school district, and so the students are learning English and the goal is to get them to learn English so they can function in regular classroom,” said Dr. Nancy Ibrahim, ESL director for JMCSS.
The International Festival was sponsored by Jackson-Madison County School System’s English as a second language department.
