Jackson Arts Council celebrates over 50 years with ribbon cutting

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson Arts Council Board and supporters held a ribbon cutting Friday afternoon.

Hosted at the Jackson Arts Council office, the event celebrated 57 years of the Jackson Arts Council, plus decades of strengthening the community, the arts and cultural organizations in Jackson and Madison County.

The Jackson Arts Council is also a great way for artists and arts organizations to promote their art and events. Plus, it offers a variety of programs and events.

“One of my favorite things is the First Friday Art Walks in which we have every single month except for July and August because it’s so hot, and then we have our gallery that we showcase for our artists as well,” said Dr. Delita Johnson, executive director for the Jackson Arts Council.

Friday evening, the art council held their ‘Arts Backstage’ event at 5:30 p.m. inside The NED.

The gathering offers everything from live music and dance, to dinner and drinks to celebrate the rich arts community of West Tennessee.
