New law enforcement memorial completed in Selmer

MCNAIRY COUNTY, Tenn. — A new memorial honoring fallen law enforcement officers is coming into focus.

It’s a story we brought you last year as we attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the new law enforcement memorial in Selmer, which was completed Friday as the final stone to the memorial was put in place.

McNairy County Sheriff Guy Buck says while there is a law enforcement memorial on the bicentennial mall in Nashville, this memorial will be different.

“It was officers, basically local, state and like county officers. It didn’t include any of our partners in law enforcement. So when we started researching and they had about 400 names on their wall and our research shows that there was over 700 names so we started looking at what the difference was and it became those partner agencies that had never been represented,” said Sheriff Buck.

The public revealing and dedication of this new law enforcement memorial is set for May 17.
