Streets fill for Strawberry Festival Grand Parade

HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — For 87 years, one unforgettable parade has been drawing thousands of visitors. It’s the West Tennessee Strawberry Festival Grand Parade!

The atmosphere was electric on Main Street Friday where so many gathered to celebrate the grand parade. Thousands of people come together each year in celebration.

We spoke with one spectator who joined in on the fun.

“We just moved here two years ago, and we live here on Main Street, so we’re participating, and we’ve decorated our yard and gotten in the whole spirit of everything going on this week,” said Robert Delgiorno, spectator.

The parade was full of fan favorites including Miss Volunteer America, and fast food chains such as Wendy’s and Sonic.

One of the exciting features of this year’s parade was the Mass Band.

“This year is gonna be a really special year. All five Gibson county bands are gonna form the Mass Band for the first time in four years. We just really enjoy coming down here and performing,” said James Young, band director for Peabody High School.

Alivia Olson, color guard member with South Gibson County High School, shares what makes this day special to her.

“I’m so excited. 100%. It’s so much fun. There’s nothing like performing for your hometown. Performing for the people who know and love you is truly amazing, and I couldn’t think of anything better,” said Olson.

But that’s not all, the grand parade was filled with loads of talented West Tennesseans. There were gymnasts, majorettes and even line dancers.
