Scattered Showers & Storms Monday Night into Tuesday, Severe Threat Back Friday!
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
The stalled out low pressure we have been dealing with all weekend long will still impact our weather tonight and into the first half of the day on Tuesday. The system will finally clear out Tuesday afternoon and we should be mild and dry for Wednesday and all day Thursday. There could be a strong storm or two Thursday night but the main concern for severe weather this week will be here late in the day on Friday. A 15% risk for severe storms is already out as we wrap up the work week and head into the weekend. Catch the latest on rain and storms chances tonight as well as an update on the severe weather concern later in the week coming up here.
THIS WEEK:
The stalled out low responsible for the showers and storms we saw on Sunday is still hanging around the Mid South and will keep some showers and storm activity around Monday night and again during the first half of the day on Tuesday. It will move out during the day on Tuesday making for a nice day for our Wednesday. Skies will remain mostly cloudy tonight and the winds in general will be calm. We will fall down to around 60° overnight. Any showers or storms we see will not be severe but some isolated lightning strikes and brief heavy rain will be possible with any of these showers that develop.

Expect another mostly cloudy day on Tuesday with some late clearing expected in the evening and night time hours. The winds will come out of the south and be light most of the day. Highs will reach the upper 70s near normal for this time of the year. We are expecting above normal temperatures for the remainder of the forecast after Tuesday. Some scattered showers and storms will be possible in the morning and early afternoon hours on Tuesday but should wrap up well before the sunsets. Tuesday night lows will fall down to the mid 60s to kick off our Wednesday.

Wednesday looks like the nicest day of the week for us in West Tennessee. We are expecting dry weather for most of us with highs in the mid 80s. We should see mostly sunny skies but there will be some periods of clouds moving on through as well. The winds will be light and come out of the south on Wednesday. Wednesday night lows will drop down to around 70° into Thursday morning. The humidity will be on the rise during the day due to the southerly winds and that is why we are expecting a warm start to our Thursday.

Most of the day Thursday is looking pretty good. It will be a hot and humid day with highs reaching the upper 80s. A couple of 90°s cannot be ruled out either. The winds will be a bit breezy and come out of the southwest. Expect partly cloudy skies. There could be a few late night storms after 10pm and one or two of them could be severe so we need to watch things closely late Thursday night into the day on Friday. Thursday night lows will again be warm due to the humidity and drop down to the low 70s to kick off our Friday.

The greatest severe weather threat this week will be here on Friday. There could be a couple strong storms Friday morning but it will be Friday evening into Friday night that we need to stay weather aware. We are already under a 15% storm threat on Friday and the setup looks a bit concerning as of now and it is something we are going to need to keep a close eye on this week as the system gets a little closer. We should have a better idea of the timing and what hazards we might encounter as the week progresses. Friday will be a warm and humid day as well with highs reaching the mid to upper 80s again and Friday night lows will drop to the upper 60s. The winds will again come out of the southwest and remain quite breezy as the system moves through.

THE WEEKEND:
The forecast this weekend looks to be a challenging one as we are likely going to be dealing with a stalled out cold front. How far south it stalls out will make a big difference on what our weather is going to be like this weekend. As of now we are expecting the front to stall out just south of us on Saturday keeping showers away for most of the day. There could be a few storms Saturday morning as the front passes through. Highs on Saturday will reach the mid 80s and the winds are expected to come out of the west. Skies will be mostly cloudy in the morning but will try to break up some as the day goes on.
On Sunday, the front is likely going to lift back through bringing another round of pop up showers and storms with it. Highs on Sunday reach the low to mid 80s as the front will lift through in the afternoon or evening hours. The winds will shift back to the southwest late in the day. Expect mostly cloudy skies on Sunday and some of the showers could stick around into the start of next week as well. The weekend forecast could change some so do not cancel your weekend plans yet but keep a close eye on the forecast this week as we develop more confidence in the forecast.
