SWHRA kicks off annual golf tournament in Henderson

HENDERSON, Tenn. — Southwest Human Resource Agency hosted their annual golf tournament at Chickasaw State Park Golf Course Wednesday afternoon.

Their goal was to have 36 teams, along with incredible sponsors, donations and support.

The mission of SWHRA is to meet the needs of families and individuals in their service area by delivering social services and resources. The event started with registration, followed by lunch and a shotgun start at 12 p.m.

This year, the aim was to raise funds for critical needs within their agency due to ongoing growth and limited funding.

“We’ve actually got a putting contest going on. And you can qualify there by tickets, it’s $10 to get three chances to make a putt or get close. If you get placed into a drawing at the end, and if you make a 50′ putt, you win $5,000,” said Mike Smith, executive director for SWHRA.

Through effective collaboration with federal, state and community partners, SWHRA is dedicated to enhancing quality of life, promoting self-sufficiency and alleviating the effects of poverty.
