University president speaks at rotary club meeting

JACKSON, Tenn. — One local meeting hosts a special guest speaker Wednesday.

Dr. Yancy E. Freeman is UT Martin’s 12th chief executive officer and leads a primary regional university in the University of Tennessee System.

He began his tenure in August 2023, after previously serving for 25 years at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in various admissions, recruitment and enrollment roles.

He’s also known for his work promoting educational opportunities and advocating for those in difficult situations.

“Working with our business and industry partners, working with other higher education partners in West Tennessee will really only mean success for Tennessee citizens, for our students who are enrolled, for this entire community. So we want to participate in elevating the entire community,” said Dr. Freeman.

Dr. Freeman’s education includes undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees from UTC.
