Investigation Underway Following Discovery of Inmate Uniform in Bells
Bells, TN – [May 20, 2025] – The Crockett County Sheriff’s Office and Bells PD responded to a residence in Bells after the homeowner discovered a Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) maximum security uniform in a shed on their property. Upon notification, our deputies began an immediate investigation into this matter.
We want to assure the public that there have been no known escapes from TDOC custody at this time, and the uniform in question does not belong to the Crockett County Jail. Our investigation is ongoing, and we are actively working to determine how the inmate uniform came to be at this location.
At this moment, we have no reason to believe there is any threat to public safety. We appreciate the community’s vigilance and encourage anyone with information related to this investigation to contact the Crockett County Sheriff’s Office at 731-696-2104.
