Annual Sheriff Buford Pusser Festival kicks off in Adamsville
ADAMSVILLE, Tenn. — The annual Sheriff Buford Pusser Festival in Adamsville kicks off in McNairy county Friday.
The event is being held at Adamsville City Park.
Free entertainment is provided by Bojack and Joecephus, and a performance by Steve Warren.
The week long festival consists of a carnival, a bus tour, various vendors and a praise and worship night.
The man behind the festival’s name, former McNairy County Sheriff Buford Pusser, was the subject of several major motion pictures. The original “Walking Tall” movies, which were filmed here in West Tennessee, tell about his life and tragic death.
The Sheriff Buford Pusser Festival comes just before the Memorial Day holiday every year.
